Mock Exam Rules & Honor Code

Last Updated: December 7, 2025

1. Purpose

Mock exams are designed to simulate actual UCAT testing conditions and provide an accurate assessment of your readiness. To get meaningful results that reflect your true abilities, it's essential that you complete mock exams with integrity under exam-like conditions.

2. The Honor Code

When taking a mock exam, I commit to:

  • Complete the exam individually without help from others
  • Follow all time limits honestly and accurately
  • Not use external resources, notes, or reference materials
  • Not pause the exam to look up answers or take extended breaks
  • Simulate real test conditions to the best of my ability
  • Keep all exam content confidential and not share it with others
  • Report any technical issues immediately
  • Accept my score as a true reflection of my current abilities

By starting a mock exam, you agree to uphold this Honor Code.

3. Exam Conditions

3.1 Environment

To best simulate real UCAT conditions:

  • Find a quiet space free from distractions
  • Ensure you won't be interrupted for the duration of the exam
  • Use a comfortable desk and chair
  • Ensure good lighting
  • Turn off notifications on your device
  • Close all other applications and browser tabs

3.2 Equipment

  • Use a computer or laptop (not a mobile device or tablet)
  • Ensure stable internet connection
  • Have scratch paper, pencils, and an eraser available (if needed for calculations)
  • Use an on-screen calculator provided by the platform only

3.3 Timing

  • Complete the exam in one sitting
  • Follow the specified time limits for each section
  • Do not pause the timer to extend your time
  • Allow for brief breaks between sections as indicated (similar to real UCAT)

4. Prohibited Actions

The following actions violate the Honor Code and invalidate your results:

4.1 External Assistance

  • Getting help from another person
  • Using search engines or websites to look up answers
  • Referring to study materials, notes, or textbooks
  • Using AI tools or chatbots to help answer questions

4.2 Time Manipulation

  • Pausing the exam to take unauthorized breaks
  • Using browser developer tools to manipulate timers
  • Taking screenshots to complete later at your own pace
  • Artificially extending section time limits

4.3 Content Sharing

  • Taking screenshots or photos of questions
  • Recording the exam screen
  • Sharing questions with friends or study groups
  • Posting questions online or in forums
  • Discussing specific exam content with others before they complete it

4.4 Retaking for Higher Scores

  • Memorizing questions to improve scores on retakes
  • Looking up answers between attempts of the same mock
  • Practicing specific questions you struggled with and then immediately retaking

Note: It's acceptable to retake a mock exam after significant study time (we recommend at least 2-4 weeks) to measure improvement. However, your first attempt provides the most accurate baseline.

5. Technical Issues

5.1 Reporting Problems

If you experience technical difficulties during a mock exam:

  • Use the "Report Issue" button immediately
  • Note the exact time and what you were doing
  • Take a screenshot of any error messages
  • Contact support as soon as possible

5.2 Resolution

We will investigate technical issues promptly. Depending on the situation, we may:

  • Allow you to resume the exam from where you left off
  • Provide a fresh attempt at the same mock exam
  • Credit your account for the affected mock

6. Score Validity

Your mock exam scores are valid indicators of your readiness only if you:

  • Follow all rules and guidelines
  • Complete the exam under proper conditions
  • Treat it as seriously as you would the real UCAT
  • Don't use external resources or assistance

Scores obtained through violation of these rules do not reflect your true abilities and can give you false confidence about your readiness.

7. Practice vs. Mock Distinction

Practice Mode

  • No strict time limits
  • Can pause and resume
  • Use resources to learn
  • Focus on understanding
  • Ask AI Tutor for help

Mock Exam Mode

  • Strict time limits enforced
  • Must complete in one sitting
  • No external resources
  • Simulate real conditions
  • No AI Tutor assistance

8. After the Exam

8.1 Review Process

After completing a mock exam:

  • Take time to review your answers and explanations thoroughly
  • Identify patterns in your mistakes
  • Use the AI Tutor to understand concepts you struggled with
  • Create a study plan based on your weak areas
  • Don't immediately retake the same mock

8.2 Confidentiality

All mock exam content remains confidential. You may:

  • Discuss your overall score and experience
  • Talk about general strategies and timing
  • Share how you felt about difficulty levels

You may NOT:

  • Share specific questions or answer choices
  • Describe exact question content in detail
  • Help others by revealing correct answers

9. Consequences of Violations

Violations of the Mock Exam Honor Code may result in:

  • Score Invalidation: Affected scores will be marked as invalid
  • Warning: First-time violations may result in a formal warning
  • Access Restriction: Temporary or permanent loss of mock exam access
  • Account Suspension: Serious violations may lead to account suspension
  • Account Termination: Repeated or severe violations may result in permanent ban

Remember: The only person you cheat when violating these rules is yourself. Your goal should be an accurate assessment of your abilities, not an artificially inflated score.

10. Why This Matters

Following the Honor Code ensures:

  • Accurate Assessment: You get a true picture of your current abilities
  • Effective Preparation: You identify real areas that need improvement
  • Test-Day Confidence: You know what to expect under real conditions
  • Realistic Expectations: You can set appropriate target scores
  • Fair Environment: Everyone benefits from a level playing field

Your UCAT score is too important to leave to chance. Use mock exams as they're intended to maximize your preparation and success.
